Potato Chip Scarf Progress Report - Halfway Point

My progress on my Potato Chip is going very slowly. I just finished the first ruffle bind off using the double crochet which was very fun and fast but it still took me a darn long time to get to this point. I am going to move up to a larger needle for the second ruffle. The pinkie peach yarn is my provisional cast on yarn so I will be casting on using it tonight I hope. The second ruffle is not going to have the furry/glittery yarn. I am going to just use Karabella Melange for the second ruffle. Cross your fingers as I hope it will be an easy cast on.... HELP! I am scared at just how much it is going to take for me to finish this one. I was able to get to the last increase row in one day but it took over a week and a halp to get to this binded off point. Dang those increases get a little thick... HUM I wonder just what I was thinking when I casted on so many. The only good thing is that I did not cast on as many as Kelly - tee hee tee hee.... her finial stitch count is going to be 1600 sts dang! Posted by Picasa

Status of my Potato Chip Scarf Crunch Crunch

Status of my Potato Chip Scarf.  Well I would loive to say that I have finished mine but I have not.  I left it in the bottom of my knitting bag for the last week but I am so inspired by Karen’s double, Sharon’s single, Christy’s single and Kelly’s single.  I hope to have mine bind off this afternoon.  Since I am car – less today I should be able to get a lot done.  The last increase row can be a killer.  I am so surprised at how long that last increase can take.  Photo to come once I am done.  BTW I am going to do the single crochet bind off like Christy’s since it really made it look very nice and it was a loose bind off.  One way to do my crocheting and one more way to loosen up my tight knitting… LOL OH darn… after I bind off that one I have to do the pick up to do the second ruffle…  Ok… so I will post my part way photo soon.

Scarf Started . . . .

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Well, I was really anxious to get my scarf at least started last night. I had 2 balls (just the right amount - with a little extra) of Rowan Wool Cotton for the project. It's really soft and smooth and will feel good against my neck which is usually sensitive to having anything around it! Also, it was the right weight yarn to use with size 8 needle. The color is a really yummy plum/burgundy shade and is looking good knit up so far. However, it took me 2 1/2 hours to cast on 180 stitches and do three rows. Now I have to do another increase row which will double my stitches to 720. I don't think I'll get 3 rows done tonight - - - - -. I can see where a person would want more than one of these - they're really different and fun!

Love this Scarf

I just went through my "stash" and tried to reorganize it last night and found the perfect yarn for this scarf. Of course, last night I still didn't know what I was going to do with that yarn, but after seeing this KAL today and especially seeing that Janet and Kelly are involved, I knew that it would be perfect. Just have to pick up the right circular needle today. I'll start it tonight and post a picture ASAP. Yea. . . . another project to start! Sue

One Long Snake of a Scarf

Here is what my scarf looks like so far!

I am on the second set of increases and I think I am going to go nuts. This is going to be a really pretty scarf but it is going to take forever!!! Oh well, on-ward and up-ward.

Now I know I Am Crazy!

Okay....I have got a good start but I don't have pictures yet. I will be sure to get some shots tomorrow. I, like Janet, am using Karabella Melange and Trendsetter Aura. I casted (is that the correct tense?!?!) on 200 stitches because I wanted mine to be long. I just finished my second knit row, next I have to increase to 800 stitches..I must be nuts!!!

Pictures coming soon

Pictures coming soon.  It seems that I have once again set out to do something but once again fell short of getting everything done all in 24 hours.  I am hoping to post a picture of my scarf.  I am making the Double Ruffle Potato Chip scarf.  I am using:

US#10 ½    60 inch circular needle.  (10 ½ happens to be my favorite needle but I thought that I needed to longest cable I could find.  LOL  I think I might have been able to use a shorter cable.  Thank you Denise Kit)
Yarn: Karabella Aurora 8, Karabella Aurora Melange, and TrendSetter Aura.
Cast On: Well I will post the count later.  I had so much fun doing the provisional cast on that I lost count.  I know that I did atleast 90 but I think I did more like 150.  But who is counting anyways… LOL

Stay tuned for pictures of this adventure.
